| 成果简介 | NOVELTY - Synergistic nano-composite material as a photocatalyst for photodegradation of dyes, comprises graphene oxide-zinc oxide nanoparticles ranging from 20-23 wt.% and agar-agar gel ranging from 77-80 wt.%. USE - Synergistic nano-composite material which is used as a photocatalyst for photodegradation of dyes. ADVANTAGE - The nano-composite material is an eco-friendly, sunlight sensitive, efficient and a recyclable photocatalyst for the degradation of dyes. It is recyclable and maintains high activity over more than cycles with simple filtration and washing. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a method of preparation of the synergistic nano-composite material, which involves (A) preparing graphene oxide (GO) from waste rice husk, which involves (i) heating rice husk to obtain graphite powder; (ii)mixing the ash with sulfuric acid and stirring to obtain a mixture; (iii) adding potassium permanganate to the mixture; (iv) adding water and hydrogen peroxide to the oxidized mixture; and (v) washing, adding hydrochloric acid and drying to obtain the graphene oxide; (B) preparing graphene oxide- zinc oxide (GO-ZnO) nanoparticles, which involves (i) stirring Graphene oxide in deionized water to obtain a mixture; (ii) adding zinc acetate and oxalic acid to the mixture, (iii) adding sodium hydroxide solution under stirring; and (iv) filtering and drying the stirred mixture to obtain graphene oxide-zinc oxide nanoparticles; and (C) entrapping GO-ZnO nanoparticles in agar-agar gel, which involves (i) adding graphene oxide-zinc oxide nanoparticles to deionized water and stirring to obtain a mixture; (ii) adding agar-agar to the stirred mixture and heating in water bath to temperature 60℃ to obtain a viscous mixture; and (iii) cooling the viscous mixture at 0-50 ℃ in ice bath to obtain the gel entrapped graphene oxide-zinc oxide nano-composite; and (2) method for the degradation of dyes which involves (a) soaking the synergistic nanocomposite in distilled water for three hours, filtering; and (b) adding the soaked synergistic nanocomposite to a dye solution and exposing to sunlight for 1-3 hours for degrading the dye. |
