成果简介NOVELTY - Synthesizing flower-like niobium oxide (Nb2O5) involves mixing niobium oxide with a natural carbon source and a potassium hydroxide (KOH) solution, adding a pore-forming agent to form a homogeneous slurry, heating the slurry to remove water and produce an off-white powder, calcining the off-white powder at a temperature range of 580-660°C to obtain flowerlike Nb2O5. USE - Synthesizing flower-like niobium oxide used in synthesizing a composite material and sensor for acetone vapor detection (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method synthesizes flower-like Nb2O5using a simple and cost-effective process involving readily available precursors, integrates Nb2O5and WO3into a composite material with enhanced surface area, gas adsorption properties, and catalytic activity for acetone sensing, achieves a reliable, scalable synthesis approach compatible with commercial manufacturing. The method fabricates a sensor capable of detecting acetone vapor concentrations at parts per trillion (ppt) levels, and assess the sensor's operational stability, response time, and acetone sensitivity under varying conditions, demonstrates the feasibility of the process for commercialization in fields such as medical diagnostics and environmental monitoring. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for (1) synthesizing a composite material Nb2O5@tungsten trioxide (WO3), which involves mixing flower-like Nb2O5with WO3, transferring the mixture into a polymer of tetrafluoroethylene (Teflon)-lined autoclave, adjusting the pH to 1 using nitric acid, heating the autoclave at 125-140°C for 6 hours to form a precipitate, washing the precipitate with water to achieve a neutral pH, drying and calcining the material at 570-690°C to produce the Nb2O5@WO3composite; and (2) sensor for acetone vapor detection.
