USE - Cocrystal used in pharmaceutical composition for treatment of peptic ulcers and to prevent excess release of gastric acid secretion. No biological data is given. ADVANTAGE - The cocrystal enhanced the water solubility and subsequently bioavailability; maintaining its efficacy and ascertain it via in- vitro and ex-vivo studies at low dosage; and avoid any potential toxicity. The cocrystal synthesis is carried out at ambient temperatures (higher temperatures are not required) easily scalable and results in product of high purity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: 1. a method for crystallization of lafutidine, which involves (a) grinding lafutidine with stoichiometric amount of the co-former, with drop wise addition of solvent, and (b) drying the product obtained to obtain cocrystals; and 2. a pharmaceutical composition, which comprises the cocrystal of lafutidine and one or more pharmaceutical carriers or excipients. |
